Mentally ill Mistreated in Prison
It's probably the most dangerous and damaging place for the menatally ill, do they really belong in prison? http://hrw.org/english/docs/2003/10/22/usdom6472.htm
No they don't belong in prison if they truly are mentally ill. Prison's a dangerous place to be even when you're "normal." We just have to rely on the justice system and doctors/psychiatrists to make the right choice/evaluation of the person. It gets harder to do since a lot of people "plead insanity" so they don't have to go to prison. I can see faking symptoms for a little while, but they'd have to keep that up like, every day in a mental hospital. Could somebody really fake something like being schizo and after a while actually start to believe they have it because they've kept up the act for so long?
