Record-breaking birth.
I was reading over chapter three for tomorrow and I wanted to write a blog on the story in the beginning of the chapter. This story is about a 66 year-old woman who gave birth to a baby girl. There were many issues with this birth, such as ethical and biological and legal. I feel that it is wrong for people to judge her based on her decision to have a child at such an old age. If she feels that she is capable of taking care of a child, then there should be no problem. It may be difficult for her to take care of her daughter as they both get older, but there is no reason for people to look down on her for her decision to become pregnant. There are a lot of people who can't have children, and maybe this woman is one of those cases. I think that it sounds a bit bizarre when you hear of it at first, but there is nothing wrong with it, if the person is capable of taking care of a child and themselves at the same time. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I still don't agree with how most people respond to things like this.

I think that people just hear of cases like this and the natural response is a negative one because there is such a risk there. Immediately we think, why would she choose to do such a dangerous thing by allowing herself to become pregnant at that age. As society tells us having a child after a certain age, say about 35 is very dangerous. Not only are you riskng the health of the unborn child, who is at a high risk, but you also endanger your own well being. People immediately analyze this from that perspective i know that I do as well we think, ok we know that a woman havinga child after a certain age, the child stands the possiblity of having high birth defects, one of those being for example down's syndrome. So i dont think its only a thing of will she be able to care for the child, as it is also one of the state of the childs well being.
I'm agree with Amber's opinion..
I have read the chapter 3 too. And I understand Amanda's opinion and I am kind the same way but like amber said, we have to think about baby too.. For old age women having a baby is not a problem but for baby her age may affect baby's cognitive development or moral development something like that...
people that old just should not have children,
and the only reason i say that is out of consideration for the child,
hes 66 and is not going to live that much longer, if she dies of old age in the next 18 years you're gonna have a very sad orphan and even if she just gets sick, the kid is gonna be taking care of her
I understand that she wanted to have a child, but why must she insist on giving birth after she's past her prime? Not only is she risking giving brith to a child that may not be born healthy (thus putting strain on herself as she ages to care for a special needs child), but she risks her own health as well. It's just a tad irresponsible on her part. What's she have against adopting if she wanted to be a mother so bad? Somebody else's kid not good enough? Psh. Some people...
