So, when I went home this weekend, I had my four-year-old litttle sister try one of those tests like we saw in class. I used two glasses of water and a glass bowl and asked my little sister if she thought we still had the same amount of water after I had poured mine into the bowl. She thought that she had more water once i poured mine into the bowl. Even when I tried to explain it to her, and she said she understood, I tried it the same mini-experiment about forty-five minutes later, and she believed that I had more water when I poured hers into the bowl.
I think that if you continue to tell a child how it really works they might pick up on it, if you drill it into their heads they might start to understand, but I think that children really do have to go through all of the stages for a successful development.
