This experiment conducted at the University of Rochester has to be the most fun ever.
"If you decide to participate in this study you will be asked to rate a set of jokes for how funny they are. You will then be asked to answer questions about the relationship between you and your friend or partner. It should take no longer than 20 minutes to complete the entire survey. We will then ask you to contact your friend or partner so that they can complete the same survey. If both of you complete the survey, we will provide you with feedback on how similar your sense of humor is with your friend’s sense of humor. While we do not require an email address to complete the survey, we can only provide feedback if you voluntarily provide your email address. In order to match your responses, we will also ask you to provide a unique ID code, such as your initials and birthday. Participant responses will be kept in a confidential manner. Only the investigators will have access to your individual responses. Only summarized data will be presented at meetings or in any publications. You should be aware, however, that there is a small possibility that your responses could be viewed by unauthorized parties (e.g., computer hackers) because your responses are being entered and stored on a “http” server. This study involves no more than minimal risk to participants (i.e., the level of risk encountered in daily life). Although you may not directly benefit from your participation, it will contribute to knowledge of the role of humor in relationships."
