PTSD is a emotional illness that has been spoke apron since 1980s, as early as the American Civil War. In WWI their were symptoms that matched up with PTSD were referred to as "combat Fatigue", "battle fatigue", and "shell shock". PTSD is develops a unsafe experience. People who suffer with PTSD re-experience a traumatic event or events in a way that they attended to aviod places, people, or other things that reminds them of a certain event. People with PTSD are painfully sensitive to regular life experences.
To treat PTSD, usually includes psychological and medical treatment. Which are Provided with information about the illness, helping the individual manage the trauma by talking about it directly, teaching the person ways to manage symptoms of PTSD.

I wonder why and how this symptom happens. We have learned Dr. Ramachandran's brain theories. I wish this symptom also can be explained with one of his experiments. The symptom seems to happen because of mis function of the brain parts' connection that governs a patient's memory and emotion. Not only the soldiers have the problems but also any other who had suffered for his harsh past experiences for example, a woman who had been raped shows similar symptoms. Maybe she has the same mental illness. If we can figure out why this problem happens we could cure the patients.
I think most of PTSD start with a bad event that happened to a person.
