One of the main justifications for Prop 8 in California, the ban on gay marriages, is that “studies” have shown children are better off with their biological parents, and that these studies have found that same-sex parents are more likely to abuse their children and raise daughters that are lesbians. This article is about a psychologist who is challenging those studies with information from official studies that have found that gay and lesbian parents are just fine as parents and will raise children who are well adjusted and taken care of. Over 7 major nationwide professional organizations, including the APA, take the position that gays and lesbians “are as likely as heterosexual parents to provide supportive and healthy environments for their children.”
I completely agree with the APA, I know people who were raised by gay parents and they are perfectly normal and I am close with a family that consists of two moms and their daughter and they are perfectly happy and normal as well.
