It is very tough to consider how many of the soldiers have to deal with facing death on a day to day basis on the battlefield. A lot of this dramatic experiences can affect the mental health as well as the health of the body.“APA member M. David Rudd, PhD, dean of the College of Social and Behavioral Science at the University of Utah, testified as a former military psychologist and suicide expert.” He believes that behavioral therapy can help relieve some of the mental needs of veterans to commit suicide , however it can only do so much. Anti-depressants in some drugs are even worse, if you would consider that some of the ingredients actually encourage more of the suicidal mood.Rudd believes that it is best to follow simple steps to aid them to their recovery. As listed in the article, giving veterans self-awareness of their environment as well as giving praise to their success are some steps to further cure them of their mental illness. Sometimes even the worst of situations only required baby steps and tools for improvements.
