The article tells of researches that are done at University of California. According to the article, the 3 year olds that were exposed to music were better at solving puzzles than the ones that weren't.
Reading this article reminded me of some of the people listening to music when they were studying for exams. They all said it helps them to concentrate, which I couldn't totally agree with. Though there aren't many researches done about this idea of using music to help the brain work better, it seems clear that the effect is different for everyone and by what kind of music will actually help them to concentrate or be distracted.
This article also reminded me of an article I read about a year ago about digital drugs, which are audio files that play binaural beats to alter the brain wave so that it gives variety of effects.
