Quitting Smoking

This article talks about how quitting smoking is difficult not because of not getting nicotine, but because of psychological effects.
Though there are scientific researches that show the effects of nicotine that works as a stimulant, the author says that when smoking becomes a habit, it makes people harder to quit.
In the article, the author takes an example of smoking after eating. Because many people smoke after having a meal, they build an association between food and cigarette, which will make them wanting to smoke after eating.

As smoking becomes a psychological habit, it becomes not only chemically addicting, but mentally addicting, which makes it even harder to quit. As a smoker myself, I've tried a few times to quit smoking. Though it seemed very easy at first, whenever I'm on a break or going outside, I automatically think of smoking because it became a habit. When I talk to my smoker friends about smoking, they all say that there is something about the act of smoking that makes them feel satisfied. One of my friends told me once that he tried to quit smoking with the nicotine patch, but he couldn't because it just wasn't the same satisfaction he got from smoking cigarettes. Now that there are many electronic cigarettes on the market, which is advertised as "the best way" to quit smoking, he said he would like to try them because he thinks the act of inhaling from a fake cigarette would help to make him feel relaxed while it doesn't physically affect his health.
