Panic Disorder

Panic disorder is one of the most treatable disorders and also one that can be the hardest to diagnose. A panic attack can occur at any time or place and produces a feeling of loss of control and fear, many people say it feels as if they are dying. Because panic attacks are so terrifying, people live in fear from attack to attack because they don't know when the next one will hit. This disorder affects around 6 million people in America, and is twice as likely to occur in women than men. Panic disorder can start to form during late adolescence to early adulthood.

For some people who have sever panic disorder, it can severely inhabit their lives. They will become afraid to go to any place where a panic attack occurred which can eventually lead to them not leaving their homes at all because of fear. Early treatment of panic disorder though can prevent this from happening.

I know from first hand experience that panic attacks are very frightening. I used to get them in restaurants and even today I still get very nervous being in them. During a panic attack it really does feel like you will pass out or may be on the verge of death.
