The fallible human

Why is it that people are who they are? How do we become what we are? From birth, our parents know what society expects of us, and begins grooming us to fit those social presets. As we grow, we are penalized if we remove ourselves from these social constructs. In essence, who we are is manufactured; a preconceived human being. We are not free as we like to say, and our lives are controlled by these presets.

In class we separated people into a few distinct personalities, but can we genuinely do so after considering the aforementioned situation. are we who we think we are, or are we what we are because we have to be in order to survive in our respective environments.

that is very true, but i think as humans we can break that mold of a proper human. I feel if we can construct this idea into ourselves we can change it as well. though it would probabily be received with skeptisism and hate, but what changes aren't coupled with that. I think it could be a turning point for a single person and if it can be done from a head figure it can be followed like wildfire. Thus creating a new look or standard for us to follow. humans are known to change fast and i feel we are self thinking people that all ways evolve and think differently.

While I wouldn't say that who we are is out of our control, I would say that there are many things didctate who we become. Family, environment and predisposed genetics are a crucial aspect of who we are, but there many things that shape our personalities nd interests such as personal experience and thoughts.

i think this is a topic which will lead ultimately no where, or rather to no end. Intriguing no the less, but a topic and a concept that must be looked at on an individual case. Where you state that our parents have a preconceived notion of how to groom us in order to fit our society, that is the most interesting part to me. Because how do you, or I or anyone really know that. Sure our parents want us to go to school, stay out of trouble etc. But aside from those few things, i believe all parents want different things for their children. Whether or not they push for those things to happen in order to groom them for society, parents nowadays at least are more educated and understand the importance of individuality, so they allow their children to choose their own paths, make their own paths, and hope they live content with their decisions. If anything is to be questioned, it's not whether or not we know who we are, but whether or not we as individuals are making an effort to meet our true selves, and to challenge the self.
