College students like ourselves, to us all nighters are nothing anymore. To some, our bed-time is not till 4-5 in the morning. My major, which is interior design demands us to stay up all night working on drawings and models. My sleep schedule is so messed up like there are days I stay up till 10, go to bed and then wake up at 4 am to start working again. The next day, i can hardly function which is one of the effects of staying up, your body can't function when it doesn't get its rest. There are a lot of research that have taken place that tells us that sleep is vital for our health and for our memory. Also, this particular article that I came across says that sleepless nights and all nights may lead to Euphoria which is a mental and emotional disorder which leads to an intense state of transcendent happiness combined with an overwhelming sense of contentment. The article also speaks about how no sleep can affect our REM(rapid eye movement) and NREM(non-rapid eye movement). Our brain and muscles need rests and pulling all nighters, we tend to exhaust them and they start to function disorderly. Also the magnitude of this disorder can vary and sometimes may result in disorders that may be long-term.
In other words, sleep is extremely important and a person needs atleast 6-10 hours of sleep a day. However in Pratt, especially being in interior design, this seems highly impossible.
