WHAT
IS THE MEMORY CAPACITY OF THE HUMAN BRAIN?
Often times whenever I study for a
test I feel the anxiety of my brain’s memory space running out and thus making
the memorization of vocabularies impossible. However, from reading the article “WHAT
IS THE MEMORY CAPACITY OF THE HUMAN BRAIN?”, it assumes that there would be a
physical limit but it also states that there would not have to worry about
running out of memory space in our brain because the capacity of our brain is
unlimited and is unpredictable. It also says that the memory space of our brain
is difficult to predict because there is no unit as to measuring the capacity
of brains. Also in memories, there are certain segments that take more or less
spaces in detail in our brain. “The brain’s exact storage capacity for memories is
difficult to calculate. First, we do not know how to measure the size of a
memory. Second, certain memories involve more details and thus take up more
space; other memories are forgotten and thus free up space. Additionally, some
information is just not worth remembering in the first place.” Our brain is structured with billions of neurons. Each of
the neurons makes connections with one another to form the memory capacity
similar to usb memory cards. However unlike the set memory spaces such as the
usb cards, our brains have the extraordinary ability to have new experiences to
be built into our brains.
