Bipolar
disorder also known as manic depressive disorder when a person goes
through mood swings from the low of a depression to the high caused
from mania. These mood swings between highs and lows can be very
quick. When
someone becomes depressed, they may feel hopeless, sad, lose interest
and motivation. When a person goes through a mood swing, they may
all of a sudden feel energy. These mood shifts are different for each
person with bipolar disorder. They can occur only a few times a year
or as much as several times a day. In some people, it may even cause
depression and mania at the same time. This condition
effects men and woman equally. Symptoms may occur between the ages of
15-25. The cause is still unknown, but it seems to occur genetically.
Biopolar disorder is a long-term condition, but luckily it can be
kept under control thought medication and psychotherapy.
There
are several types of bipolar disorder and each type exhibits a
different set of patters and symptoms. There is bipolar I disorder
which when mood swings are pretty extreme and cause difficultly with
every day activities such as work and school. Bipolar II disorder is
less severe than bio polar I. One still struggles with mood swings,
but they can generally go on with their daily lives. Instead of
having a full-blown mania, they have a less intense form called
hypomania. The last type is Cyclothymic disorder. This is the mildest
form of bipolar disorder. Someone with cyclothymia goes through mood
swings but with less intense highs and lows as the other types.

I am a father of a Bipolar Son, who passed away five years ago after he took his life. I waited all these years to now venture and share my grief his pain and suffering as well as my repentance for not having done anything in time much for ignorance. A week ago I wrote his story and how he felt about himself and his surroundings. Please feel free to click and read and I will appreciate your comments and thoughts on his condition. Stay blessed
