Alzhiemer's Study with Nuns

I heard of an interesting study done on nuns and the onset of alzheimer's. 687 nuns from The School Sisters of Notre Dame ranging in age from 75 to 106 participated. Due to their similar lifestyles and the fact that they did not smoke or drink made them excellent test subjects. The study concluded that many lifestyle choices may prolong life and prevent early onset of alzheimer's and demetia. Among these that delay the onset of such degenerative disorders were more linguistic ability, positive emotions, and higher education early in life. Those with less intillectual ability showed earlier onset of dementia and less longevity. These results were uncovered through the nuns alowing doctors to perform regular memory checks, reading their early-life writings, and performing autopsies on their brains. Cool, huh?

Sounds cool to me, but most diseases or disabilities and their side-effects can be lessened by not doing harm to your body such as smoking, drinking, etc. If you take good care of yourself, you will most likely live to an old age, older than the average American definitely.
