I think it's cool how psychology has been inflitrated into the film industry. There are so many things that are being planted for us to see that we don't even realize are subliminaly flashing in our faces. Not only is it a way to manipulate and advertise, it's a really smart and sneaky way to go about it.
Not only using psychology in the industry, but the surge of psychology becoming popular topics in the movies has really become popular, especially in cult classics - two really popular films that started out as cult classics, and personal favorites of mine, Fight Club and Donnie Darko. These are really edgy, gritty movies that have an underlying layer of psychology. Mixed with hollywood, these films (with other genres mixed in) have coined the term psychological thrillers - using your mind, warping it, to make you feel a certain way - in this case, usually scared.
I really like psychological thrillers.
