Progress is slow in the war against autism

-> Progress is slow in the war against autism

Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy get serious about autism! She says her son has "recovered" from the condition that affects millions. But many medical experts say there is no cure. Questions and answers from guests on both sides of the controversy!

After I posted this blog, I had more research this topic. AND I found the news that, "Court Says Vaccine Not to Blame for Autism."

Here we go-

"In a blow to the movement arguing that vaccines lead to autism, a special court ruled on Thursday against three families seeking compensation from the federal vaccine-injury fund.

Both sides in the debate have been awaiting decisions in these test cases since hearings began in 2007; more than 5,000 similar claims have been filed. In the three cases, each decided by a judge called a special master, the court found that the families had not shown that their children’s autism was brought on by substances in the vaccines — either the measles virus in the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine, or its combination with thimerosal, a mercury-based preservative that was used in most childhood vaccines until 2001."

Finally, I got the idea of the vaccine does not cause autism. But still, it is not perfect in some ways because it is about human. Even though, high-developed technology, we should consider there will be exception or the third thing. It is not 'one plus one is two' thing. Also, babies need vaccine. So, who can solve this un-answered question? Honestly, I don't know;;;;

Could you take the article out of your text, post a link instead, and provide a summary in your own words that reflects the syllabus requirements? You've got excellent content, we want to hear what YOU have to say.

I often wonder about the genetic versus environmental factors that could cause this disorder. I know a few people who are effected by this disease, and it is still so mysterious I would think more research would have been done or we would know more answers. I have 2 cousins who are brothers who are both effected by autism and it's frustrating to not have any real answers as to why. I hope in the near future we can have more knowledge on the subject and perhaps be able to prevent future cases, and also be able to cure this disorder.

I also wish more research would be done so we could know more about how to cope with and educate people with autism. My mother is a special education teacher for elementary age students, and has a few autistic kids in her class. She often complains that the school district she works for really doesn't know how to handle children with autism, and the schools is also seeing an increase in the amount of autistic children with every incoming class, so much so that next year she will be teaching an entirely autistic class. This also makes me wonder if autism could be caused by an environmental exposure, considering her school district relatively small and is confined to one town.

In the last class, we discussed several methods to approach to get the most convincing reason of causing autism. To narrow down this broad disputable issue we asked question, “Does vaccine cause autism?” My team chose using case study to approach this issue.

The article tempts to tell that the cause of autism is not by the MMR vaccination but rather genetic disorder. It is very difficult to conclude the causes of many diseases or mental disorders because there are so many other factors that human beings can’t acknowledge. As the article demonstrated, environments also could affect autism, “Hertz-Picciotto said environmental factors include anything that's not in the child's DNA, from viruses and bacteria to chemicals in the brain or personal care products. She said more research needs to be done. CDC epidemiologist and autism researcher Diana Schendel said that any nongenetic factors, including a mother’s illness during pregnancy or treatment of a baby in the hospital during or after birth, are other possible environmental factors.” If we can’t analyze the causation, it would be better to deal with the personnel who have the autism; how can they be members of their societies. It is very understandable of one of the interviewers who said that some parents of the autism kids wish their children die before them. It is obviously very difficult for those who have this mental disorder to get a job and be a part of their society. Their parents are the only helpers for them. We really have to concern about developing social environment for them.

I was curious about the question vaccine causes the autism?
I heard many scientists have debate about do the vaccine causes the autism. However, there's some doctor who has a show that airs on 1190 KEX radio says that the parents of autistic children might be nuts. He claims there is some link, through new studies, to fathers with schizophrenia and mothers with undefined psychiatric illness ending up with autistic children. Moreover, at this post, syaying vaccine does not cause the autism. However now, vaccine does not concerned with autism. Therefore, in my opinion the first thing we need to find is how to cure that children? doctors said there is no cure of autism.However, Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy . Her son has "recovered". Even there is no cure, we need to find how to try and make the best condition for austistc children.

I think government should do more careful examination of applicants of compensation. I'm sure it is very difficult and as many as there are real people with disorders but also people who may not know what is really wrong with them and just apply for compensation.
