This article I found was very interesting because one of the women being interviewed for this story expressed feeling "empowered" and had a sense of "freedom" by the use of drugs and alcohol. And how they think using these substances to choose their colleges and career plans will help benefit them. What do you think?

Drugs now are a thing to be cool. Its a psychological thing that makes them feel like they are living on the edge or as a cruch. Teenagers that use drugs can be concluded to having low self because they use drugs to cope with life threatening or traumatic experiences. The drugs turn into a suppression to make them fee better about life.

Well there's no doubt that when people are drunk or high from drug they become different person. Maybe they misunderstand that as courage? or "empowered?"

Some drugs lower a person's ability to sense danger, therefore making them feel invincible or empowered, as the woman in the article said. That being the case, many people will overdose or somehow kill themselves in other ways, like driving a car and getting into an accident because they feel that they are fine and able to fully function and operate normally. Unfortunately drugs can often times have very real and lasting effects. My friend thought she was just smoking pot but it had been laced (probably with PCP) and she had the worst (and last) high she had ever experienced. She still would get horrible flashbacks up to two years after having smoked. She couldn't drive until it was gone because it would be too dangerous. Lots of people don't think about drugs like that.
