About 1% of the population have Bipolar Disorder. Also known as Manic Depression, this illness if untreated can ultimately result in suicide. The cause of Bipolar Disorder could come from alcoholism, drug abuse, or violent behavior.
However many well known figures in the society had Bipolar Disorder, such as Robing Williams, Jim Carey, Winston Churchill, Theodore Roosevelt, and so on. So does that mean it can be a positive condition, rather than an illness? Assuming one don't kill themselves that is. Whatever the case may be, it is believe that Bipolar Disorder can cause "increased sense of spirituality, creativity, and accomplishment", according to Psychiatrist and Neurologist Robert J. Hedaya, M.D.
This of course, in part can cause the person with Bipolar Disorder to have a positive effect and relationship within the society. Diagnoses might there for stray away from drug and alcohol, which maybe can cause more goods than harm. M.D Robert J. Hedaya, believes that because of this reason, perhaps Bipolar Disorder should not be viewed as being a disorder? Because if it really does allow people to access "unusual potency", then perhaps it is beneficial to the society? But then whether or not this "unusual potency" that people with Bipolar can access, would become destructive or constructive, are still something that we can't ultimately control 100%. Nevertheless, if people with Bipolar are made aware of this, perhaps it can lead them down in a right path, for us and themselves.
